Rick Goble Biography

Born in Floyd County , KY , this singer/songwriter is determined to bring the “Country” back to country music. And with influences ranging from George Jones to Keith Whitley he knows what real country should sound like. He’s been writing songs since age 13 and has developed a sound that will definitely remind you of what country used to be without compromising his own originality. He believes there is no such thing as “too country”, and wants to bring the integrity back to the music he loves. He started out singing for friends and family at get togethers and his early gigs consisted of a handful of people and a campfire . And at age 18 he joined the U.S Air Force and while in basic training he entered a Christmas talent show at the base chapel and while playing for more than 1,200 homesick troops he got his first standing ovation and if he wasn’t already hooked, he was then.

Since then he’s played any time someone would listen and between performing he would be writing songs. And he would write them from the heart and from situations he had lived through. At age 22 shortly after getting out of the service he joined his first band and what was originally filling in for the band’s ill lead singer turned into a full time position after one week-end. A year or so later Rick made some changes to the band , bringing on board his talented brother (also a singer/songwriter) to form the band “Pure Grain”. While in Pure Grain, Rick and his brother made quite a name for themselves playing all over the tri-state area (KY,WV and OH) ,getting air time on local stations and in 1999 had an original song win WLGC 105.7’s (Greenup, KY) “Budweiser Song Of The Year”. After a few years with Pure Grain he decided that he wanted to take his music to a different level and moved to Nashville, TN.

While living there he took a job at an engine re-manufacturing company where he worked as a machinist . After about a year of trying to manage his time between providing for his family while working and trying to put together a band to hit the circuit, the load was too much to bear and he and his family re-located to the deep south, Biloxi, MS. But while in Nashville Rick had played enough and got his demos to the people who would eventually give him the financial backing to record a professional album of songs he had written with A-list Nashville session players such as Sonny Garrish (steel guitar) and Dirk Johnson (piano) just to name a few at Hilltop Recording Studio in Nashville. And in the fall of 2003 he released his first solo album (Another Whiskey) and his own web site (rickgoble.com). Within the first two weeks of existence his web site guestbook had been signed by people from 29 different states and 3 countries. Needless to say the word is out and he is determined to get his music out there for the world to hear and with some luck and a good break his time will come.
